Smart Start is the offspring of JosPhar Wealth Management, a support firm started in November 2001, just two months after 9/11. On that subject, we were one of the “might have been stories”; before JosPhar, we financed a startup which was located in the World Trade Center on the 93th floor of Tower 2. A cash crunch (not uncommon to startups) caused us to fall behind in rent and the landlord locked us out. Normally, cash crunches do not produce happy endings; this one did for us. Some months later, we negotiated a buyout agreement on clients no longer wanted by our then current employer and JosPhar Wealth Management was formed.
